I need advice on desktop audio.?

I know someone is going to **** on the Bose system because it's bose but i want speakers that sound realistic and have good bass. I am debating whether to get the bose Companion 5 (for $280 because my uncle works there) or 2 behringer truth b3031a active studio monitors (400 for the pair). the bose has a 5 and a quarter inch mid-low speaker and the behringer truth monitors have a 8 and 3/4 mid cone woofer per speaker. Im guessing the behringer will sound very real but it won't have as much bass and will not have simulated 5.1. im leaning toward the monitors.
